We really studied the Liberty ships from the US; their architecture, inner structure and interior style of the 1940s.
This is the recreational room for the crew. I've added the concept to show what we were aiming for.
This was a huge challenge as we had to create it in 1947 and 2018, so two versions of the same location which was the target for a lot of areas of the game. I feel we really achieved the look and quality we wanted, as in the Env Art team we wanted to maintain that Until Dawn quality and better it.
This was the first room I set up for a visual target for the rest of the game. I worked on this on my own for a while (as it is at the start of production) and eventually worked with 2 other artists to once we started ramping up the team; Mark Machin and Cristian Leon (https://www.artstation.com/esocripta) and the lighting is by Bob Craig (https://www.artstation.com/bob1982)
